MANILA, Philippines – Veteran broadcast journalist and philanthropist Daniel Razon on Monday (June 10) announced a P100,000 reward for the capture of anyone using his groups’ advocacy to collect money.

Razon, the Vice Overall Servant of the Members, Church of God International (MCGI) that serves as the backbone to many charitable works and institutions including La Verdad Christian College (LVCC), said such an act is never a practice in MCGI.

“We vehemently deny the involvement sa mga ganyang klase ng pangongolekta, panghihingi ng donasyon sa kalsada o saan mang lugar, (in any practice of collecting or begging for donations on the streets or just anywhere),” he announced live on air during the program “Good Morning Kuya” on UNTV.

“Hindi trabaho ng mga members sa Church of God International, ng mga taga-Ang Dating Daan ang mangolekta sa kalsada. Wala hong ganyan. As a matter of fact, sa MCGI ay hindi humihingi ng donasyong pinanysal sa mga hindi naman miyembro, (It is not a practice among members of Church of God International or Ang Dating Daan to collect money from [just anyone] on the streets. That’s not allowed. As a matter of fact, MCGI does not accept monetary contributions from non-members), ” he further stressed.

Ang Dating Daan, the longest running religious program on television and on the Internet, is the main broadcast program of MCGI.

Meanwhile, La Verdad Christian College is an institution that provides scholarship to deserving but financially challenged students, also supported and funded by MCGI. Each scholar is entitled to college education, books, uniform and meals without paying any amount.

Razon said he was informed that some usurpers were spotted somewhere in Manila asking cash donations allegedly for MCGI’s medical missions and for the operations of LVCC.

“Anybody na gumagawa ng ganyan, ipahuli ninyo. Kuhanan ninyo ng video dahil iyan ho ay scam, isang paninira din iyan na maituturing dahil wala hong ganyan na ginagawa ang mga members ng Church of God International o anybody na nagtataguyod po ng La Verdad Christian College or ng ating mga ginagawang mga charity works, (Anybody who engages in that [scheme], have them arrested. Get videos of them because that is a scam, a form of provocation and defamation because such is not a practice among members of Church of God International or anybody who supports La Verdad Christian College or any of our charity works), ” Razon said.

“At sinuman sa inyo ang makapagpapahuli na gumagawa ng ganyan, magbibigay ho kami ng reward. Isandaang libong piso (P100,000) sa bawat isang maipapahuli ninyo na ganyan ang ginagawa na trabaho, (We will reward anybody who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of individuals who engage in such schemes. A reward of P100,000 for each scammer that is arrested), ” he added.
